9113002Prestigious award presented to Westminster Libraries(30/11/09)

For the second year running, an Intellident customer wins the CILIP Group Innovation Award for services to the library market.

This year, the award has been presented to Catherine Cooke, Project Development Coordinator at Westminster Libraries for her pioneering work in the combination of evidence-based stock management from Bridgeall and the use of Intellident’s smartInventory™ handheld reader.

Significantly, Westminster has been one of the first institutions to truly embrace RFID for stock management and is now receiving a range of additional benefits from their investment. Key to these benefits are the time savings available through the use of the handheld reader, which is capable of reading 1,500 book titles an hour; equivalent to a single item taking just 2 seconds to be identified and processed.

Catherine Cooke commented: “Winning this award from two organisations I have been involved with for many years is a great and unexpected honour. It recognizes the importance of moving on from the initial implementation of self-service, of maximizing the investment, and putting RFID also at the heart of daily stock management.

The combination of solutions from Bridgeall and Intellident opens up the use of handheld readers to staff in all libraries. Performing accurate inventories and searching for items is significantly easier and quicker with a handheld scanner.”

Following a highly successful pilot, Westminster now plan to roll out smartInventory™ across its 11 libraries, five of which are already fully RFID self-service enabled.

Intellident, long-term sponsors of the CILIP RFID in Libraries conference, would like to congratulate Catherine on winning this prestigious award.
