Intellident’s Paul Dalton is elected chair of the National Acquisition Committee(22/12/08)
Paul Dalton, Intellident’s UK Smart Media Sales Manager, is set to take over from Maggie Sumner as the new chair of the National Acquisition Committee (NAG). NAG brings together everyone concerned with the selection, supply and management of library collections from across the public, academic, national, government, and special library sectors, including library suppliers, booksellers, systems suppliers, RFID suppliers, publishers, subscription agents and bibliographic suppliers.
Paul joined Intellident in 2007, after a previous role as IT Manager at Askews Library Services in Preston. Paul’s strong career foundation within the library sector and extensive experience within IT systems have proved highly valuable for Intellident, and has undoubtedly become the same for NAG. Paul explains: “I have been a committee member with NAG for the last three years, primarily being involved in the development and ongoing management of the NAG website. I have really enjoyed working with the NAG committee team during a very interesting period, which has seen NAG’s profile raised significantly, with works undertaken in conjunction with MLA and BIC.”
In line with Intellident’s involvement with the BIC/CILIP RFID in Libraries Group and BIC E4Libraries steering committee, Paul’s representation supports the company’s strong commitment to working with standards organisations that run parallel with Intellident values. Paul explains, “I represent NAG on the BIC E4Libraries committee, which is developing proposals to bring efficiencies to the library supply chain through the application of technology, such as EDI, e-commerce and RFID. I also represent Intellident BIC/CILIP RFID in Libraries Group, which is dedicated to developing standards for RFID in the library sector.” On his role as Chair he explains, “In taking on the role of Chair, I will endeavour to consolidate the excellent work already undertaken by the committee. In particular, I aim to cement NAG’s position in the library marketplace as a key resource for library practitioners and as a partner organisation for bodies such as CILIP and BIC”.
All at Intellident look forward to fully supporting Paul in his new role with NAG by continuing to provide efficiency, guidance and innovation within library operations.
