8120502Introducing smartPOS™ – the low cost shelf management system(05/12/08)

The latest product to be introduced by Intellident’s team of RFID specialists is the new smartPOS™ on-shelf stock management solution. This low cost product is a highly economical way to monitor stock levels, particularly during peak trading periods or for best selling merchandise. To enable the system, smartPOS™ units are simply affixed directly to existing shelving, without the need to change any present display equipment, or install unsightly cables.

Simple in design, yet highly effective, the smartPOS™ solution works by communicating stock-out information via an embedded RFID tag to a reader (which can be positioned discretely on the ceiling of the facility or in the floor). The smartPOS™ device is compressed when shelves are stacked and once the last item has been taken off the shelf, the “out of stock” sign pops-up and transmits a signal to the reader, which then links to back of store systems and informs the systems on replenishment needs.

smartPOS™ has been designed in order for it to be used in conjunction with a variety of products, for example, high value bottles, cosmetic ranges or essential food items. The application can be customised to suit the requirements of any product or shelving.
